Help us build
history today

to serve generations of tomorrow

Start a Chronicle

We are onboarding Chronicle partners who want to build verified historical records.

You bring:

  • Expertise and interest in a topic or event

  • Commitment to source-based documentation

  • Ability to recruit your volunteer team

We provide:

  • Platform infrastructure and tools

  • Training and documentation

  • Long-term preservation and custody

Volunteer with a Chronicle

Chronicles need people who care about accuracy and preservation.

Chronicle Administrators manage Chronicle operations, define scope and standards, coordinate volunteer teams. Each chronicle has one or more administrators.

Reviewers screen incoming submissions for quality, check that sources are accessible, ensure events meet the Chronicle's inclusion criteria.

Curators perform deep verification — cross-referencing sources, adding context, linking related people and events, preparing records for publication.

We will begin onboarding Chronicle Administrators in February 2026 and will post further information here.

Support Open Civic Systems

Your contribution supports the infrastructure that makes community archives possible. This includes: platform development and maintenance; long-term preservation systems; volunteer training resources; and chronicle onboarding and support.

Help us build infrastructure that will serve future generations.
